I occasionally slack at updating this blog (some of you are nodding your head), but there are behind the scenes forces much more powerful than slacking which keeping me from writing. My (old) computer has increasingly rebelled against me for over a year now, and recently said, "nope, we're done." It was hard, I've spent over four years with her, but computers are like girlfriends. The first year is fantastic, all about exploration and learning what it can do, the second year is about complacency, then it slowly disintegrates leading to day dreams about a less bulky computer with more memory, a sleeker design, a prettier monitor, and maybe better driving skills. Is that a bad analogy? Okay, a computer is like a puppy dog, super cute the first year, becomes your best friend for the next ten years, then becomes a financial liability until they pass (while defecating everywhere). Maybe that analogy doesn't work either. Regardless, I've got a new computer, I've been telling my friends how this is the one, and it hasn't soiled my carpet yet. Let's see what shows we've missed since I've been away:
John Fogerty
CCR lead singer, but you already knew that.
Edgefield, Troutdale (OR)

Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band
Catch a member of the Beatles before they die. Sunday nights shows suck for those of us who get wasted on weekends and have to recover by Monday morning. Sunday night shows are great for retired people for the opposite reason.
Edgefield, Troutdale, (OR)
Sunday, July 15th, 2012
$53-$93

Someone is finally wising up to the instant sell out EDM shows. Look at that ticket price!

Seeing Joe Satriani shred at the Schnitz is worth the price.

Didn't she beat Justin Beiber for best new artist once?

They seem to have a hater following among the EDM snobs, but I dig them a lot.
Crystal Ballroom, Portland
Thursday, September 13th, 2012

Warped Tour
Now this is interesting. It appears the event will take place across the street from the Memorial Coliseum. That area used to be basically nothing, but now serves as a parking lot for Rose Quarter events. I've been to Warped once before (shut up, I was partying with Bad Religion), so I'm wondering if that area is big enough to hold every high school kid in the Portland metro? It's a great idea travel wise though, since every max-line in Portland goes through that area.
Rose Quarter Riverfront, Portland
Sunday, August 5th, 2012
$31.50
========================================================
The Tubes
Aladdin, Portland
Saturday, May 12th, 2012

What is better than one Collective Soul set? Two of course. Even though now one cares, they're still touring "10 Years Later."

Destroyer
One of the worst shows I saw last year, and I've always been a huge fan. He no longer plays guitar, he's a lounge singer surrounded by below average musicians. If he ever decides to shut up and play his guitar, I'll pay to see him again.
